Alpha Force – Chris Ryan

Alex is drowning in the surf. At the last moment of consciousness he is rescued and finds himself on a tropical island exercising every one of the survival skills his father taught him. Luckily his dad was in the SAS! But Alex doesn’t count on water shortages, rogue Komodo dragons, pirates and a diabetic girl and a computer hacker for companions. This book tells how Alpha Force comes into being – it is a  Chris Ryan book that makes for a great read.

Earthfall

The battle starts here!

Mark Walden is an excellent author. I really recommend that you read him. The blurb on the back of this book says it all!

if you are caught, you will not return.

if you escape they will hunt you down

The past is dead

You are the future

Now with a line like that how could you not read this book!

Butter

Butter is a huge boy – so huge he needs a bench to sit on in the school cafeteria. He is so big that the other kids usually feel sorry for him rather than tease him. After one bout of particularly vicious teasing, Butter decides to eat himself to death. His webpage attracts lots of interest from his school mates and Butter learns about relationships, ten pin bowling, girls and healthy diets – and not so healthy ones!
This is a thought provoling read – but not for the faint hearted.

Genghis Khan re-visited

Genghis Khan re-visited

I really liked this book- even though it is number two in a trilogy and I hadn’t read number one ( I have now though!) Conn Igguldsen has written a trilogy about Genghis Khan, and his campaign to take over the world as he knew it. His strategies as he builds his armies from warring Tartar tribes, his insights into his enemies, his war tactics all make for really good reading. Igguldsen has researched heavily into this era, enough so to make me think he is pretty accurate in his depictions of life on the plains. A really good read.
